Pirongia is a vibrant Waikato village with a proud history of fostering adventurous and independent youth. However, as our rangatahi grow older, the lack of recreational facilities means many lose their connection to the community. For over 30 years, generations have campaigned for a skatepark, and with the support of Waipā District Council, this dream is finally becoming a reality.

The Council has provided a central plot of land on Franklin Road and will maintain the facility once built. Plans include a state-of-the-art skatepark featuring ramps, rails, bowls, BMX zones, and scooter-friendly spaces, alongside a community playground, walkway, and toilets. This hub will encourage physical activity, social connection, and creative expression for all ages.

The project’s estimated cost is $900,000. We’ve secured $100,000 from Waipā District Council, including completed site testing, designs, and consultation. To complete the project, we’re seeking community support through sponsorships, events, and crowdfunding. We are also working with major funding providers through local grant applications. Every contribution helps us get closer to creating this much-needed space.
